Guide: Chinaware

In our range you will find several different types of china like hard-paste porcelain, bone china and stoneware. But what are the differences and benefits of the different materials?

Below we will review some different facts about the various porcelain materials so that you get more information about the type that suits your business best.

Hard-paste porcelain

Hard-paste porcelain is the most common type of china and is characterized by its resistance to both bumps and food stains. The material is burned at high temperature, about 1400 °C, which makes the material tight and durable. Hard-paste porcelain are usually white in color due to the high burning temperature. The composition of the material gives the surface a glassy impression.

Hard-paste porcelain can be used for heating in microwaves, if it is not decorated with any kind of metal. It can be washed in the dishwasher. Hard-paste porcelain cant be used in ovens.

Bone china

Bone china is a material that in addition to the classic ingredients, also contains at least 25% bone ash. Bench porcelain is white in color and burns at 1200 ° C. The material is characterized by a strength that makes it possible to manufacture thin and exclusive shapes without losing its durability.

Stoneware

Stoneware is technically not china because it is not made of the subject of koalinite. Stoneware consists of clay and quartz that burns in high temperatures and becomes very tight and durable. Products made of stoneware are usually oven-proof due to the high temperatures in manufacturing. The appearance of the material is characterized by a rustic feeling. Stoneware can be used in the microwave and dishwasher.

Care instructions for chinaware

To keep your china in the restaurant in top condition, you can use our simple care instructions:

WASH CHINAWARE IMMEDIATELY AFTER USE

Food residue left after a meal can easily discolor delicate details. China is particularly sensitive to dishes with strong acids such as apple and lemon. Therefore, it is essential to try and wash the china after use. If you cannot clean the dishes immediately, it is recommended that you rinse off the food residues from the chinaware.

SOAK CHINAWARE FOR BURNT-ON DIRT

Soaking your china for half an hour will release burnt-on dirt more easily. Then you avoid using scouring agents or steel wool, which easily scratches the glaze, which can cause the china to become dull.

USE THE DISHWASHER

Most chinaware can be washed in a dishwasher. If you want to keep your china in good condition for a long time, you should use a rinse aid. It reduces friction, and you avoid ugly scratches on your plate when you stack them on top of each other.

REMOVE GRAY COATINGS WITH ACID

Remove the gray coatings that may appear on your china using ascorbic acid, citric acid or the like. The cause of the coating is often carbonates in the water, which can dry on the porcelain surface and be difficult to wash off.

AVOID MICROWAVE IF THE CHINAWARE IS DECORATED WITH METAL

Most chinaware series can be heated in the microwave. However, you should never heat your china in the microwave if it is decorated with any kind of metal. The metal in the china can start to crackle and flash in the microwave.
