Driving or pregnancy is no longer the only two reasons not to drink alcohol, the options are now more sophisticated than juices, cider or soda. Today, many bars and restaurants work to offer an equally exciting and tasteful range of non-alcoholic options, and for those who do not want to mix drinks there are a variety of non-alcoholic wines and beers at hand.

That we have become more health conscious and are eating more often, is two factors that one believes have driven this trend.

As the non-alcoholic alternatives have become better and bartenders spend more time on taste and finding the right ingredients, customers' willingness to pay more for non-alcoholic alternatives has also increased.

Some examples of non-alcoholic initiatives:

• Avalon Hotel in Gothenburg arranges non-alcoholic after work every Monday.
• The Photographic Museum in Stockholm has carried out a venture focusing on non-alcoholic drinks.
• Mikkeller Weird Weather non-alcoholic Ipa won gold as best beer at Stockholm Beer and Whiskey Festival 2018 (I competition with alcoholic beer).
• In 2015, the music festival Way Out West launched an alcohol-free bar.
• In late 2018, London got its very first alcohol-free cocktail bar, Redemption in Covent Garden.

Sober curious and mindful drinking is new terms used to describe a movement that involves drinking consciously or not drinking alcohol at all. Moctail is used as a name for a sophisticated drink, like cocktails, but without alcohol.
