Stay active

Being active is good and all forms of exercise have a positive effect on health. Physical activity brings with it a wide range of positive effects on the body. You become more alert, stronger and sleep better. Adults are advised to perform some form of moderately strenuous activity for at least 2.5 hours per week. Maybe you prefer walking, or are you one of those who got hooked on paddle?

It can be nice to know that even small changes make a difference. If you take a bus, take the stairs instead of the lift and get off at a stop earlier. Work in the garden or cycle to work. Everything you do makes a difference. If you have a sedentary job, try to vary your working position and stand between laps. After lunch, it can be extra good to get up for the sake of digestion. It can be good to try to avoid sitting still for too long. Get in the habit of doing something active every half hour to break the silence.

Let the thresholds be low to get started on becoming more physically active. It will be so much easier then. Start with something that is close at hand and that you like. Maybe a walk with a good podcast or music in your ears and start by walking short distances and then extend the time you are out and maybe jog short distances. What´s the thing with padel?

Are you also hooked on padel? Padel has become the sport everyone talks about or does. In record time, we in Sweden have had over 1000 padel courts and paddle halls seem to pop up like mushrooms from the ground. But what is the thing about padel and why has it become so popular?

Maybe some of the hype can be explained by the fact that padel is a relatively simple sport to try and get started with? The rackets have a large face and the courts are smaller than on a tennis court and you do not have to be a very physically active person to test it. In that sense, the sport is easily accessible. For those who like equipment, it can possibly be an expensive story as the sport can be seen as a material sport. Another great advantage of padel is that it is a sport where men and women often play together in mixed teams. We are happy to offer rackets and equipment for padel.

Did you know this about padel?

The origin of the padel is usually attributed to the Mexican Enrique Corcuera. In the 60s, Corcuera built, on its plot, a small tennis court with walls along all sides for and played with a wooden racket from paddle tennis. When a Spanish prince visited him in 1974, he himself became so fond of the sport that he had padel courts built at the Marbella Club on the Costa del Sol. This led to celebrities in Spain opening their eyes to the sport and it became the resort's indoor sport. Spain today has 2 million practitioners and is thus the largest sport in terms of number of practitioners.

In 1992, the first world championship in padel was played. Something that has since been played every two years.
